The Program

Conga Kids is a common-core aligned partner-dance program that teaches a range of dances including Merengue, Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango, and Swing.

The program is enhanced by an in-depth exploration of rhythms, patterns, and cultural and historical origins. The dance curriculum is carefully crafted to promote physical well-being and coordination, while also aiming to build a community of self-confidence and trust.

Conga Kids currently offers instruction twice a year, with 10-week programs in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Instruction is led by masterful resident teaching artists, who implement our multi-standards-based dance curriculum.

Participating schools embrace the program enthusiastically, capitalizing on the many opportunities that Conga Kids offers throughout our 20-lesson residencies. Classes include written homework assignments and a professional demonstration by guest artists, and culminate in a grade-level showcase for families, teachers, and younger students. Each school also has the option to enter local and regional competitions against schools from across greater Los Angeles County.
