Hey, Los Angeles —

Let’s Dance!

Conga Kids is an arts-in-education program that promotes social-emotional wellness through partner-dance. Our principal goal is to shift the way students view themselves, their peers, and their communities.

The Program

Through our highly structured approach to dance instruction, Conga Kids strives to teach critical interpersonal communication skills, build paths to conflict resolution, and establish a foundation of respect, teamwork, confidence, and leadership.

Focusing on five core dances – Merengue, Foxtrot, Salsa, Tango, and Swing – the program is enhanced by an in-depth exploration of rhythms, patterns, and cultural and historical origins. The dance curriculum is carefully crafted to promote physical well-being and coordination, while also aiming to build a community of self-confidence and trust.

Learn More

Conga Kids currently offers instruction twice a year, with 10-week programs in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Instruction is led by masterful resident teaching artists, who implement our multi-standards-based dance curriculum.

Participating schools embrace the program enthusiastically, capitalizing on the many opportunities that Conga Kids offers throughout our 20-lesson residencies. Classes include written homework assignments and a professional demonstration by guest artists, and culminate in a grade-level showcase for families, teachers, and younger students. Each school also has the option to enter local and regional competitions against schools from across greater Los Angeles County.
