HISTORY

Founded in 2016 under the auspices of Apex Realty CEO and Conga Room founder, Brad Gluckstein, and Ballroom Madness' Artistic Director & Creator Daniel Ponickly, Conga Kids is a 501(c)3 arts-in-education nonprofit organization. Since its inception, Conga Kids has experienced substatial growth.  This year we are expanding programs to meet demand and serve over 5,000 students in 7 school districts throughout Los Angeles County.

Conga Kids is guided by its mission and passion for delivering a quality arts education that affects students beyond the classroom. We are committed to serving communities strongest hit by budgetary cuts. This commitment includes teaching dance and life skills in underserved communities with the greatest need for our transformative program.

The Conga Kids program focuses on four core foundational principles: respect, teamwork, confidence, and leadership. We utilize a standards-based program that teaches students a range of dances, including Merengue, Swing, Salsa, Tango, and Fox Trot. Through the art of dance – and particularly through partnered dancing – we aim to promote these foundational principles.

Students take classes twice weekly over ten weeks with expert Teaching Artists who aim to explore dance in a global context. Each program concludes with a public culmination ceremony and dance “competition” across multiple schools where children have the opportunity to perform and celebrate their accomplishments.
